Dr. Subhangi Subedi is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. She is one of the 2022 Awardees of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). She has established her own research laboratory, called the ‘Functional Nanomaterials Processing Lab.’ With the grant received from OWSD, she is mentoring nearly a dozen undergraduate and graduate students. Her current research project focuses on using Carbon Quantum Dots as a Fluorescent Probe to detect and control environmental threats.

I want to introduce Carbon Quantum Dots as Fluorescent Probes to scrutinize and control the prevalent environmental threats in Nepal. I want this because they are an environmentally benign and non-expensive nanoparticle, making them an ideal choice for a country with limited advancements in science and technology, such as Nepal. I can do this because I have expertise in the synthesis and applications of carbon quantum dots and I am determined to apply these nanoparticles in the best possible ways to combat environmental issues.
