Designing Medicine for Bodies That Don’t Fit the Average | Canada 🇨🇦
Government of Canada
Clinical evidence often relies on an assumed average patient, even though biological variation can determine how people develop disease and respond to treatment. Precision health and multi-omics offer ways to account for that variation, but better representation in research could transform how diseases are prevented, diagnosed and treated, particularly for women and minority communities. The challenge for science and policy: Whose biology is represented when medical standards are defined?
