Julika Griem, born 1963, is Director the Institute for Advanced Cultural Study (KWI Essen) and Full Professor of English Literature at University of Duisburg-Essen, after holding positions at Darmstadt University of Technology (2005-2012) and at Goethe University Frankfurt (2012-2018). She completed her doctorate at the University of Freiburg and her habilitation at the University of Stuttgart. Since 2016, she has served as Vice President of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG).

Her research interests are, among others, reading as a social practice, narrative imperatives, the contemporary literary industry, science communication research and the institutional and performative dimensions of science policy making.
