Born out of the #WirVsVirus hackathon in March 2020 and further developed at #EUvsVirus, LabHive.org is an online-tool to match qualified researchers and labs offering their under-utilized resources (labour, equipment, reagents, experience with lab techniques or data analysis) and needs of diagnostic laboratories. This innovative concept emerged as a response to the Covid-19 testing crisis, however it has potential to change science management and collaboration in the future.

Tobias Opialla

Max Delbrueck Center for Molecular Medicine

Dr. Tobias Opialla is a system biologist with a background in analytical chemistry. He is currently a Scientist at Max Delbrueck Center for Molecular Medicine. During his doctoral thesis in biochemistry encompassing metabolomics and proteomics he got in contact with programming-driven data analysis, software development and laboratory automation. Interdisciplinary work is his strength. He is able to connect, communicate, and collaborate with clinicians, molecular biologists, and computer scientists working together to overcome the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
