The Nairobi Ideas platform is comprised of free events including the Nairobi Ideas Night, a recurring informal public event for local researchers, scholars and other nerds to present their ideas to the public, and the Nairobi Ideas Exchange, which gathers participants to deep dive into issues in their unique fields of practice. We also produce a bi-monthly Nairobi Ideas Digest, rounding up science news from the region & the Nairobi Ideas podcast, which interviews Kenyan experts and scientists.

MAWAZO INSTITUTE

Kari Mugo is the Hub Manager of the Falling Walls Engage Hub Kenya, and the Public Engagement Lead at Mawazo Institute, a non-profit research institute in Nairobi (Kenya) that supports the next generation of female scholars and thought leaders in Africa through research funding and professional training. At Mawazo, Kari supports the development of Mawazo’s public engagement program, designed to expose policy makers and the public to important research and innovative ideas by African scientists and thinkers.

Mawazo’s vision is for a world in which the voices and ideas of early-career African women shape the future of the continent and the world.
