A business executive and theoretical physicist, Joseph Broz, Ph.D, leads SRI’s Advanced Technology and Systems Division (ATSD) in Applied Science, government business development, technical and business strategy. He brings 35 years of experience in both the public and private sectors to this role. Broz has worked extensively with governors and executive branch officials on economic development issues. He currently serves as the member-elected Executive Director and Chair of the industry quantum consortium (QED-C) chartered under the National Quantum Initiative Act (HR 6227). Prior to this, Broz served as a White House Fellow, and as a Special Assistant to the Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Before joining SRI in 2013, he served as the Laboratory Director for Tenneco, and as Vice President of Laboratories and Business Development for TIMET. Broz is a member of the American Physical Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has a B.S. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in physics from the Swiss Federal Institute (ETH) in Zurich.
