Description

Excite Science is an interactive design studio that explains complex science in fun ways. Using immersive products that engage hard-to-reach audiences, we create experiences that educate the community on diverse topics. From escape rooms to extra reality, we invoke nostalgic and pop-culture themes to make scientific content relatable and memorable.

Our primary focus currently is developing educational and immersive products for cancer-focused organizations to use in their outreach, education and fundraising activities. Our experiential products help create stronger connections between stakeholders, increases brand alignment and recognition, and reinforces preventative health behaviours to reduce the impact of cancer on society.

What This Organisation Can Offer

Excite Science has three main cancer activations that are available for licensing, leasing or purchase:

1) Makings of a Malignancy: a portable escape room explaining cancer;
2) MalignancyVR: a virtual reality experience that explores skin cancer treatments and reinforces preventative health strategies;
3) Cancer ARt Gallery: a series of augmented reality artworks that explain cancer biology through a lens of nostalgic, pop-culture and street art styles.

Excite Science is looking for organisations or individuals who would like to use our activations in their outreach, education and fundraising activities. We’re also looking for scientists and creatives who support our mission and vision and would like to be involved.

Ken Dutton-Regester

Dr Ken Dutton-Regester is the founder and Executive Creative Director of Excite Science, a creative studio using immersive experiences to explain complex cancer biology in fun ways. From escape rooms to extra reality, Excite Science invokes nostalgic and pop-culture themes to make scientific content relatable and memorable.

A highly recognised science communicator and keynote speaker, Ken is constantly exploring different communication platforms to make science engaging and accessible to diverse audiences. In recognition of his achievements, Dr Dutton-Regester was ministerially appointed to the Questacon Advisory Council in 2019 (Australias National Science and Technology centre).

For over a decade, Ken has also served on national and international professional leadership bodies, advocating for early career researchers for organisations including the American Association for Cancer Research and National Postdoctoral Association. Recognising the challenges facing academics, Ken created the Youtube channel Stemventurist to share his learnings to help researchers succeed in their careers, inside or outside of academia.

A cancer researcher of over 14 years and past Harvard Medical School Research Fellow, Dr Ken Dutton-Regester still retains an active research program and has been exploring new ways to prevent and treat late-stage melanoma.
