Nita Farahany, JD, PhD, is a pioneering futurist and legal ethicist. As the Robinson O. Everett Distinguished Professor of Law & Philosophy at Duke Law School and Founding Director of Duke Science & Society, she drives transformative discussions on technology’s ethical and legal implications. Her seminal book, The Battle for Your Brain: Defending the Right to Think Freely in the Age of Neurotechnology (2023), charts a pathway to cognitive freedom in an increasingly interconnected world. A highly impactful speaker speaker, her insights resonate from TED stages to the World Economic Forum. Serving on President Obama’s Presidential Commission (2010-2017) and advising entities from corporations to the OECD and UNESCO, she brings her interdisciplinary background in law, philosophy and science to bear on global technology policy. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute, AAAS, appointed to the Uniform Laws Commission, serves in an advisory role to Scientific American.
