The biofuels industry uses food crops to produce biofuels. Agrisoma offers the industry a new non-food crop option that can be used to produce biofuels without impacting food production, while providing farmers new opportunities to use marginal lands and second cropping options to maximize the output from their land. Unlike other new crops that have been proposed for the biofuels industry, Agrisoma’s crop is has been proven at commercial scale to seamlessly integrate into farm operations, using the same equipment and crop production methods, but within a certified sustainable framework. Agrisoma’s crop, called “Carinata“ is one of only four crops certified for sustainable biofuels production by the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) and the only crop in this elite class that produces both oil and a sustainable protein meal product for animal feed.
