Chuan He: Breaking the Wall to a New Green Revolution
Crop scarcity, exacerbated by climate change, presents a daunting challenge for our future food security. Rising global temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, and increased frequency of extreme weather events like droughts and floods directly impact agricultural productivity. These changes disrupt traditional growing seasons, leading to failed harvests and reduced crop yields. Chuan He, Ph.D., holds the esteemed position of John T. Wilson Distinguished Service Professor and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator in Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Marcus Mall: Breaking the Wall to Treating Rare Genetic Diseases
Cystic fibrosis remains one of the most common fatal genetic diseases, as well as the most common fatal hereditary lung disease worldwide. In recent years, medical scientists have made intensified attempts at understanding the disease mechanism at the core of cystic fibrosis, namely the defect in the CFTR protein. In this regard, Marcus Mall and his team have made groundbreaking contributions. A specialist in paediatric pulmonology and physician-scientist, Mall is the Director at the Department of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine, Immunology and Critical Care Medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
