Constantin Häfner

Constantin Häfner has been a member of the Executive Board of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, responsible for Research and Transfer, since February 2025. The physicist returned to Germany in 2019 after 15 years in the US to lead the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT. He also holds the Chair of Laser Technology at RWTH Aachen University. Previously, he held senior research and leadership positions at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, specialising in high-energy lasers and inertial fusion. His work focuses on advancing laser technologies, research transfer and sustainable fusion energy.
