Rafael Prieto-Curiel

Rafael was born in Mexico. He studied Applied Mathematics, and he worked for the Police Department in Mexico City for five years. His work consisted of crime forecasting. He then studied a Masters and a PhD in Applied Mathematics at UCL and became a postdoc at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford. He then joined the Complexity Science Hub in Vienna, where he is the leader of the quantitative migration research group. He analyses cartels in Latin America, violence, and sustainable mobility. He is also a consultant for the OECD and for the World Bank on the science of cities.
