Dr. Guihua Yu is Centennial Energy Chair Professor of Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He earned his B.S. degree with the highest honor from USTC and his Ph.D. from Harvard, followed by postdoc at Stanford. His research focuses on nanomaterials innovations for addressing frontier challenges in sustainable energy-water-food nexus technologies. He is an elected Member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Fellow of AAAS, MRS, RSC, IOP, IMMM and IAAM. He has received numerous international awards and honors: Global Prize for Innovation in Water (GPIW) Grand Discovery Prize, UAE Global Water Award, Blavatnik National Awards Honoree, UK RSC Horizon Prize, Norman Hackerman Award in Chemical Research, O’Donnell Award in Engineering, TMS Brimacombe Medalist Award, IUPAC Award for Creativity in Applied Polymer Science, Camille-Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award, Sloan Fellowship, MIT TR-35.
Guihua Yu is the Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year 2024 in the Engineering & Technology category.
