INTERNATIONAL LAB WINNERS Download section

International Lab Winners are welcome to find all information needed in preparation for their participation in the global Falling Walls Lab finale (Emerging Talents category of the Falling Walls Science Summit) by browsing through the documents below and submitting the required materials.

STEP 1 - ORGANISE YOUR TRIP

  • Check out the Preliminary Schedule and Hotel Coordination file.
  • Familiarise yourself with the Detailed Programme.
  • Have a look at the Intro Event information.
  • Have a look at the Springer Nature Hangout information.
  • Register for the ‘Insights into German Research’ Information Session by 25 October 2023 (last update: 17 October 2023).
  • Familiarise yourself with the Event Locations, Directions, and Public Transportation Guide. If you are staying at our partner hotel, the address is: Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz, Alexanderplatz 7, 10178 Berlin.

ONLINE PARTICIPANTS

  • Various events will be available online for you to watch:
    • 7 November, 9am – 6:15pm CET: Watch the global Falling Walls Lab finale via livestream.
    • 8 November, 8:30am – 6pm CET: Watch the Falling Walls Circle Day Plenary Tables via livestream.
    • 8 November, 9am – 6pm CET: Watch the Falling Walls Circle Day Round Tables via livestream.
    • 9 November, 9am – 6pm CET: Watch the Falling Walls Breakthrough Day via livestream.

STEP 2 - PREPARE YOUR PRESENTATION & VIDEO

  • Get a feel for this year’s finale by watching last year’s Highlights Video and Past Winning Pitches.
  • Read through the Pitch Briefing.
  • Prepare your PowerPoint presentation using the PowerPoint Template.
  • Familiarise yourself with the Stage Setup.
  • Know in advance how to move your presentation forward with the Presentation Clicker.
  • Online Participants ONLY: Read through the Video Pitch Briefing and record your video pitch.

STEP 3 - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Download your Winner Button (available in GIF, PNG, and MP4 format) and share it via social media.
  • Learn when you will be presenting with the Order of Presentations (last update: 24 October 2023).
  • Invite others to watch your moment on stage with the Livestream Flyer.
  • From the Brandenburg Gate to the East Side Gallery, there are many sites worth seeing in Berlin. Don’t know where to start? The visitBerlin website is sure to help! Additionally, you can explore the city on a budget-friendly adventure with a ‘free walking tour’. There are many tour providers, but we have had great experiences with GuruWalk.   • Participants arriving in Berlin on 5 November: It is not permitted to bring your luggage with you to the Intro Event location. Check-in at our partner hotel is possible starting at 3 pm. However, guests are welcome to store their luggage at the hotel prior to check-in.
  • Participants attending the Science Summit from 7 – 9 November: Please note that only bags up to A4 size are permitted within the event location (Radialsystem). For your convenience, we kindly request that large backpacks and similar items be left in your hotel or dropped off at coat check upon arrival.
