Prof. Chu received his B.S. and PhD degrees all in Physics from Northwest University (China) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2008 and 2012, respectively. He moved to The University of Stuttgart (Germany) to carry out his postdoctoral research in 2014-2016. In November 2018, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Hong Kong, and promoted to Associate Professor (with tenure) in November 2024.

Zhiqin Chu is a 2025 Falling Walls Finalist in the Engineering & Technology category.
