Yu Huang is the Traugott and Dorothea Frederking Endowed Engineering Chair and Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at UCLA.  Her research focuses on designing unique nanoscale materials for various applications. She has pioneered the bottom-up assembly of heterogeneous material structures, creating fundamentally new approaches for integrating dissimilar materials across multiple length scales, enabling advances in sustainable energy, electronics, photonics, and quantum materials. 

Yu Huang is the 2026 Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year in the Engineering & Technology category.
