Uta-Micaela Dürig serves as a board member, university lecturer, author, and consultant to businesses and foundations. She brings more than 40 years of professional experience spanning a wide range of sectors. Dürig previously served as Managing Director of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, headquartered in Stuttgart and Berlin, and most recently as a member of the executive board responsible for social policy at one of Germany’s major welfare organizations in Baden-Württemberg. In that role, she experienced firsthand the profound strain placed on social services as they confront growing challenges and needs while facing reductions in public funding.
Following high school, she initially completed a traditional professional training program as a newspaper editor. While working full-time, she spent five years studying Communications and Journalism at Freie Universität Berlin and subsequently completed professional training as a business mediator. She was the first woman in Germany to receive the prestigious award “Corporate Spokesperson of the Year“.
Uta-Micaela Dürig co-founded the Falling Walls Foundation's initiative "Engage". Today, she works through a national and international network, creating added value and developing new solutions by strategically connecting partners from diverse sectors who share common perspectives, values, and goals. Her work focuses on the intersections of business, government, academia, the social economy, civil society, and the media.
