Thomas Soares Mullen holds a Master’s in Physics from the University of Manchester and is a Neuroscience PhD student at the Champalimaud Foundation, researching computational models of motor control funded by Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Formerly a data scientist at the UK Department for Transport, he is a committed advocate for diversity and inclusion in science and leads outreach initiatives with underserved communities in Lisbon.

Breaking the Wall between Science, Art and Community: Thomas Soares Mullen's 2025 Falling Walls Engage Finalist Project is Science on the Walls.

Science on the Walls unites scientists, artists, and Lisbon's Cova da Moura’s diverse community through hands-on science and art activities. By partnering with local associations, experts, and artists, the project engages 300+ children and 70+ scientist volunteers in experiments, creative workshops, and climate action initiatives. These activities promote scientific curiosity, STEAM diversity, and empower youth as future leaders from underserved backgrounds.
