Thomas Feurer

Thomas Feurer is a physicist whose work spans laser physics, ultrafast spectroscopy, and X-ray free electron laser instrumentation. Educated in Würzburg, Houston, and Jena, he researched at MIT before joining the University of Bern in 2004 as Professor, later serving as Director of the Institute of Applied Physics and Co-director of NCCR MUST. Since 1 Jan 2024, he chairs the Management Board of European XFEL. His career highlights strategic vision, cutting-edge science, and advancing scientific instrumentation.
