Thomas Bjørnholm

Thomas Bjoernholm leads the Villum Foundation’s research programmes in the technical and natural sciences. Formerly Prorector for Research and Innovation and Deputy Rector at the University of Copenhagen, he oversaw research and innovation across all disciplines. He is Professor of Materials Chemistry and founding director of the Nano-Science Centre. A member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters and the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences, he has published more than 200 scientific papers. Since April 2026, he has chaired the Danish Council for Research and Innovation Policy.
