Sylvain Charbonneau

Sylvain Charbonneau is President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), a role he has held since October 2024. A physicist with a PhD in photonics and semiconductor physics from Simon Fraser University, he previously served as Vice-President, Research and Innovation at the University of Ottawa and spent more than two decades at the National Research Council of Canada. He is also an entrepreneur, having co-founded the optical-communications company Optenia Inc.
