Sudeep Duwal

Sudeep Duwal is the Coordinator at Smartphones For Water Nepal (S4W-Nepal). He leads citizen science-based hydro-meteorological monitoring across Nepal's urban mountain regions. Since 2018, he has been designing and implementing participatory monitoring systems for rainfall, shallow groundwater, and headwater streamflow. His work bridges data gaps, supports climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction, and promotes evidence-based water governance through community participation.

Citizen Watch Water is a citizen science initiative that empowers citizens and young researchers to generate reliable hydro-meteorological data in data-scarce urban regions of Nepal using low-cost technologies and mobile applications. Since 2017, the initiative has engaged more than 700 citizen scientists, 3,000 students, and 100 young researchers, helping to strengthen hydro-meteorological data systems and support sustainable water management and evidence-based water governance.
