Stephen Streiffer

Dr. Stephen K. Streiffer is director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he leads more than 7,000 staff in delivering critical missions for the U.S. Department of Energy to accelerate scientific breakthroughs, advance energy solutions, and strengthen national security. Streiffer joined ORNL in October 2023 from Stanford University, where he served as interim director of SLAC NAtional Accelerator Laboratory. He previously spent 24 years in research and leadership positions at Argonne National Laboratory, concluding his tenure as deputy director for science and technology.
