Shekhar Mande

Shekhar C. Mande is President of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and a Distinguished Professor of Bioinformatics at Savitribai Phule Pune University. A structural and computational biologist, he previously served as Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, leading India's largest publicly funded research network including through the COVID-19 pandemic. At INSA he works to strengthen India's international scientific engagement and foster global research cooperation.
