Pippa Wells is an experimental particle physicist who has spent her career at CERN, where she is now Deputy Director for Research and Computing. She joined the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, LHC, and became project leader of the inner tracking detector. This played a key part in the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012. She then led physics studies to demonstrate the physics potential of a high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC. She was also Head of Member State relations at CERN from 2016 to 2020.
