Paula Leupold

Paula Leupold is a doctoral candidate at Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin. Her research focuses on the impact of viral infections and microplastics on the human brain. To understand the molecular and cellular changes following viral or plastic intrusion, she uses human stem-cell derived brain organoids as a model system.

She previously coordinated a science engagement program at Freie Universität Berlin that brings together high school girls and female scientists and nowadays participates in different science communication formats.

Paula is a fellow of the Zia – Visible Women in Science 2025/26 cohort.
