Oliver Kaczmarek is a Member of the German Bundestag, representing the Social Democratic Party (SPD) since 2009. Since 2025, he has served as spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group on research, technology, space, and technology assessment. He previously held the role of spokesperson for education and research (2018–2025) and is a member of the SPD Party Executive as well as the executive committee of the SPD parliamentary group.

He is a trained social scientist with a teaching qualification in history and social studies from Ruhr University Bochum. Before entering federal politics, he worked as a policy advisor at the Ministry of Schools and Further Education of North Rhine-Westphalia and as a youth education advisor for the SPD in North Rhine-Westphalia. He has been a member of the SPD since 1988 and served in various roles related to education, social policy, and labour-related services prior to his parliamentary mandate.
