Niklas Fanelsa is an architect and professor at the Technical University of Munich, where he leads the Professorship of Architecture and Design. He studied architecture at RWTH Aachen University and the Tokyo Institute of Technology. As founder of Atelier Fanelsa in Berlin and Gerswalde, his projects investigate new forms of living, working, and commoning through regenerative and bioregional design. His academic work connects design practice with research and teaching. He was Emerging Curator at the Canadian Centre for Architecture and a fellow at the German Academy Rome Casa Baldi.
