Matthias Müller

Dr. Matthias Müller is Executive Vice President R&D and New Ventures at SCHOTT AG in Mainz, where he leads global research, technology innovation, and venture activities focused on advanced materials, photonics, healthcare, energy, and semiconductor applications.

He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and began his career at Siemens Corporate Research & Development in the field of semiconductor materials. In 2001 Matthias joined SCHOTT and has spent there the last 25 years in a variety of leadership positions across manufacturing, operations, technology development, and business management. Today, he actively fosters collaboration between industry, academia, and startups, with a strong commitment to transforming scientific breakthroughs into sustainable business and societal impact.
