Matthias Meergans

Matthias Meergans is a physician and pharmaceutical executive dedicated to advancing medical innovation and research collaboration. As Executive Director for Research and Development at the Association of Research-based Pharmaceutical Companies (vfa), he leads strategic initiatives to strengthen Germany’s life sciences ecosystem. With over two decades of experience in global pharmaceutical companies, he has held leadership roles across Medicine, R&D, and Marketing in both local and international contexts. He also lectures in the Pharma MBA program at the Goethe Business School in Frankfurt. A board-certified internist, he holds a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Medicine and studied Medicine in Berlin and Tübingen.
