Martin Rennert

Born in 1954 in New York, Martin Rennert studied classical concert guitar in Vienna, Granada, and Graz. In 1985, he was appointed Professor of Guitar at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin, where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Music from 1989 to 1995. From 2006 to early 2020, Prof. Rennert was President of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).

During his presidency, he served as Deputy Chair of the Regional Conference of Rectors and Presidents of Universities and Colleges in Berlin (LKRP) and was spokesperson for the arts universities within the LKRP. Among other roles and advisory duties for the European Union, he was a member of the Broadcasting Council of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) from 2011 to 2018 and joined its Administrative Board in April 2019, where he served until April 2023.
