Markus Zanner

Markus Zanner is a senior university administrator with extensive experience in higher education management and research strategy. He most recently served as Chancellor of the Technische Universität Nürnberg and previously as Chancellor of the University of Bayreuth. Earlier in his career, he held several leadership positions at the Technical University of Munich, including Head of the Office for Research and Innovation, Managing Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies, and Head of the Planning Staff for the Excellence Initiative. He began his career in academic and administrative roles at the University of Regensburg. Zanner holds a doctorate in religious studies and brings longstanding expertise in university governance, research funding, and strategic development.
