Markus Blume completed studied physics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and political science at the Munich School of Politics from 1994 to 1998, graduating as a political scientist. From 2001 to 2002, he worked as a freelance consultant and then co-founded Content5 AG, serving on its board until 2013. He was a spokesperson and strategic advisor for Renova Management AG in Zurich from 2005 to 2008. He has been a member of the Junge Union and CSU since 1995/1996, and since 2008, he has served in the Bavarian State Parliament. He has held the position of district chairman of CSU Munich-East since 2013 and was deputy general secretary of CSU from 2017 to 2018, before becoming general secretary from 2018 to 2022. Since February 23, 2022, he has been the Bavarian State Minister for Science and Art and has been an alternate member of the Bundesrat since March 2022.
