Mark Daley

Mark is Chief AI Officer at Western University (Canada), Professor of Computer Science, and a faculty affiliate of the Vector Institute. His work focuses on AI governance and science diplomacy, particularly how middle powers can navigate technological competition through strategic cooperation. In 2025, he trained at France's INSP and helped lead the R7+ summit of G7 research leaders. His policy research is published by CIGI. He was named to Maclean's Power List 2024 and Constellation Research's AI150, and is NSERC Scholar in Residence in AI. He previously served as VP Research at CIFAR.
