Lise Korsten

Prof. Lise Korsten is the President of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS). She is also Co-Director of the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Food Security at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where she leads research on food safety, plant health, and postharvest science.

Prof. Korsten is deeply committed to using science to improve quality of life and actively mentors young researchers, particularly women, to become leading scientists. She is an elected Fellow of the Academy of Science of South Africa and chairs the International Society for Plant Pathology Task Force on Global Food Security.
