Since completing her Law Degree (2. Staatsexamen) in 2002 at the Higher Regional Court (OLG) in Dusseldorf with a specialization in European Law and an additional qualification in Labor Law, she has been active inter alia at the EU Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations (KoWi) in Bruxelles and Bonn as a programme manager of EU research proposals. She joined the DFG in 2007, where she has overseen the DFG-coordination of EU projects and was responsible for supervising national and international DFG-funded graduate programs.
In 2009-2010 she was Referent in the Joint Science Conference (Gemeinsamen Wissenschaftskonferenz) in Bonn, Germany, comprised of representatives of both the federal government and the state governments. She was in charge inter alia of the implementation of the Excellence Initiative of the German Council of Science and Humanities and the German Research Foundation. Starting in 2010 she then served as Personal Assistant to the Executive Board of the German Research Foundation (DFG) in Bonn, Germany. Ms Kohs is the Director and Deputy Head of the Division “International Affairs”. She is currently involved in the administration and coordination of the DFG’s global foreign offices as well as with DFG’s funding of international cooperation, including the funding of at risk researchers. She is also a member of the Advisory Board for Migration of Researchers, within the Federal Office of Migration and Refugees.
