Dr. Katerina Pastra

Katerina Pastra heads the Language & Robots Lab at ILSP, Athens, Greece. She studied Linguistics at the University of Athens, gained an MSc in Machine Translation from the University of Manchester and completed her doctorate in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Sheffield, U.K. With her team, she builds on neuroscientific findings of how the human brain works to develop software that enables intelligent systems & robots to understand and integrate words, actions and perceptions for effective interaction with humans and enhancement of their quality of life. Katerina teaches in several AI-related postgraduate courses at the University of Athens and has the honour to serve as a Vice-president of the Hellenic Artificial Society and as the President of GEARnet (the Greek Network of Committees for Gender Equity and Antidiscrimination in Research Centers and Independent Research Institutes).
