Joybrato Mukherjee

Prof. Dr Joybrato Mukherjee (*1973), has been President of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) since 2020 and Rector of the University of Cologne since October 2023. For his academic achievements and his activities in the internationalisation of higher education, he has been awarded honorary doctorates by the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) of Iasi, Romania; Tbilisi State University (TSU) in Tiflis, Georgia, and by the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotà (Colombia). Prof. Mukherjee was decorated Gran official of the San Carlos Order of Merit of the Republic of Colombia.
