Jodie L. Lutkenhaus is a Professor in the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University. She was born in Bedford, TX, then moved to different parts of the US for her BS, PhD, and postdoc before settling down in College Station, Texas. She is an expert in organic batteries and charged polymers and is interested in how redox-active polymers store and transport electrons for energy storage. She co-discovered the world’s first polypeptide organic battery, which was metal-free and degraded on command. She is a PI on projects that will address high-stiffness batteries for aerospace and the data-enabled discovery of new redox-active polymers for metal-free batteries.

Jodie Lutkenhaus is a 2023 Falling Walls Winner in the Engineering & Technology category.
