Jennifer Kehlet Barton, Ph.D. is the Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the University of Arizona. Prof. Barton’s research focuses on development of optical imaging techniques for understanding disease processes. She builds and tests miniature endoscopes, and evaluates the suitability of these endoscopes for visualizing tissue structure and function in vivo. She has previously served as BME Department Head, Director of the BIO5 Institute, and Interim Vice President for Research. She was the 2024 President of SPIE, the International Optics and Photonics Society.
