Prof. Dr. Gül M. Kurtoğlu Eskişar

Gül Kurtoğlu Eskişar is a professor of international relations at Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, Turkey. She earned her M.A. in international relations and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Chicago. As a Fulbright visiting scholar at Columbia University’s Department of Computer Science (2023-2024), she conducted sentiment and emotion analysis on political texts from social media to assess their level of populism using natural language processing (NLP). Her current research interests involve applying computational methods, including NLP and machine learning, to analyze political data in both text and speech forms.
