Gerard Meijer is a Dutch physicist who early on characterized the physical properties of fullerenes. He received a professorship from his alma mater, the Radboud University in Nijmegen, and he pioneered the use of infrared Free Electron Lasers in gas phase molecular physics. At the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin, he has developed ingenious tools to manipulate and control beams of neutral molecules.
