Gabriele Hermani is Head of Division 224 (Cooperation with European Countries; Israel; Language Services) at the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
She studied Political Science, Sports Science, Film, and Theater Studies at the Johann-Wolfgang von Goethe University, Frankfurt/Main and at the Free University FU, Berlin. She initially worked for the business newspaper “Blick durch die Wirtschaft” and “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z)”. In “Blickbuch Wirtschaftsverlag of F.A.Z.” she published the handbook “The International Career”; in Campus Edition she publishes a “Guide to Public Relations in Family Businesses”. From 1999 to 2001 she headed the F.A.Z project “Youth and Environment” and from 2001 to 2004 in F.A.Z. the section “Job and Opportunity”. In 2005, she started to work in the civil service and was first deputy spokesperson in the Federal Ministry of the Interior. A new book release at this time was, “The German Islam Conference 2006 to 2009”. In April 2010, she became head of the department “Strategic Communication and International Press” at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Berlin. In October 2013 she started to work for the German Foreign Ministry as a Science Councellor in Tel Aviv, Israel; followed by four years as “Head of the Science Department” at the German Embassy in Warsaw, Poland. In October 2020, she returned to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Berlin and as Head of Division in charge for the scientific cooperation with “Eastern Europe (except EU), South Caucasus, Central Asia”. Since January 2024, she has been responsible for research cooperation with European Countries and Israel in the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
