Eva Martha Eckkrammer

Eva Eckkrammer is an Austrian scholar of Romance languages and the current President of the University of Trier (since September 2023). She studied Romance Philology at the Universities of Salzburg and Coimbra and has been a Professor of Romance Language and Media Studies at the University of Mannheim since 2009. 

Her research focuses on comparative text and media linguistics, multimodality, specialized communication (e.g., expert–lay communication in medicine), variation linguistics, creole studies (particularly Papiamentu), language policy (with emphasis on minority languages), and product and migration linguistics. She also serves on the University Council of the University of Graz and has been President of the Franco-German University since January 2024.
