Eva Inés Obergfell is Rector of Leipzig University.
She studied law at the University of Bielefeld, the Université de Strasbourg and the University of Konstanz. In 2000, she received her doctorate at the University of Konstanz and completed her habilitation there in 2010.
In 2011 she was appointed professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. From October 2016 to September 2021 she held the Office of Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She was appointed Rector of Leipzig University in 2022.
In 2023, she was elected to the Board of German U15.
