Elissa Strome

Elissa Strome is the Executive Director of the Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy at CIFAR. She works with leaders at Canada’s three National AI Institutes (Amii, Mila, Vector Institute) and across the country to advance Canada’s leadership in AI research, training and innovation.  Elissa also leads CIFAR’s work on AI Safety funded by the Canadian AI Safety Institute. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia and has recently earned her second-degree black belt in taekwondo.
