Dr. Nimigean holds a Physics degree from Bucharest University, a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Miami, and postdoctoral training at Brandeis. A leader in ion channel structure and mechanism, she was faculty at UC Davis and is now a Professor at Weill Cornell. Her seminal work uncovered key properties of ion channels—selectivity, inactivation, lipid modulation—and how small molecules repair channels linked to epilepsy.
