Carsten Breuer

The Chief of Defence, Carsten Breuer, oversees Germany's military defense strategy, including planning, command, and evaluation of Bundeswehr operations. Directors-General for Planning, Forces Policy, and Strategy and Operations report directly to him. As the highest-ranking officer, he sets binding directives for all Bundeswehr personnel. He is supported by the Vice Chief of Defence, who also serves as the Commissioner for Reserve Affairs.
