Breaking the Wall to Resilient Circular Cities: Bum Suk Ko's 2025 Falling Walls Engage Finalist Project is Urban Mining 2.0.
Urban Mining 2.0 transforms urban waste into climate-resilient community spaces through participatory design and digital fabrication. Combining traditional crafts with AI-driven tools, the project empowers public housing residents to upcycle waste and create urban elements, such as lattice screens and activity benches. These interventions build climate-adaptive environments that reduce landfill waste, lower carbon footprints, and foster inclusive, resilient neighborhoods. Urban Mining 2.0 is realised through a collaboration with Provides Ng and Baha Odaibat.
