Bonita de Swardt

Bonita de Swardt is the Programme Manager for Strategic Partnerships in Human Capital Development at the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory. An astronomer by training, she leads international partnerships advancing astronomy, data science, STEM education and research capacity across Africa. Her work champions inclusive scientific collaboration and the development of early-career researchers. Her contributions to developing scientific capacity were recently recognised when she was named a Mail & Guardian Power of Women 2025 honouree and received the Young Science Diplomat Award in 2025.
